Pack 201 News: October 2025

Don't Miss Out! Register for the Fall Family Campout!

Get ready for an awesome weekend! Pack 201's Fall Family Camp is happening on October 25th–26th. This is a fantastic opportunity for our Scouts and their families to spend quality time together, enjoy the crisp fall air, and experience some great outdoor fun!

Event & Registration Details

The cost for the event is $40 per family, which covers the group meal and activity supplies.

Please register your family as soon as possible using the link below so we can get an accurate headcount for food and supplies:

What's Happening at Camp?

We have a wonderful weekend planned (full itinerary), including:

  • A Fantastic Group Meal:  Come hungry! We're planning a delicious chili bar, mac and cheese, cornbread, and cobbler for dessert.

  • Outdoor Activities:  Fun, rank-appropriate activities for all Scouts.

  • Campfire Fun:  Fire permitting, we'll gather around a fire for songs, stories, and of course, s'mores!

Calling All Parents: Share Your Skills!

We're thrilled to see what unique skills and passions our Pack 201 parents have! Sharing your knowledge makes the campout unforgettable. If you have an activity you're willing to lead, just message Matthew Haneman!

The Easiest Option: Lead an Elective!

Check out the site for elective belt loops. If you see a skill or topic you know and love, and want to help the boys earn a loop—fantastic! We'll give you the space and time to make it happen.

Water Activity Ideas (Leaders Needed!):

Since we're near the water, here are two activity ideas if we can find parents willing to take the lead and responsibility:

  • Aquatic Fun: I have stand-up paddle boards. If you have canoes or kayaks you'd bring, we could set up a session! (We always need adult supervision for any water time.)

  • Fishing: I'm not a fisherman! If anyone wants to teach the basics or has extra rods and reels to share with the Scouts, please let me know.

Important Note on Camping Logistics

We love camping, but these trips can be challenging logistically! While we are actively working to secure as many campsites as possible, we do have a limited number of spots available at this time.

  • The registration form asks if your family is interested in camping overnight. Please answer this question accurately!

  • If interest in camping exceeds our availability, we may need to hold a small raffle to determine which families can stay overnight. We will communicate this process clearly if it becomes necessary.

  • Not camping? You are still welcome and encouraged to join us for the afternoon activities and the group dinner!

Join the Camping Committee!

We always seek help to make our outings the best they can be. If you love camping and want to help shape where we go, what we do, and how we execute these fun events in the future, please let me know or mention your interest on the registration form!

We can't wait to see you all on the 25th!

Upcoming Meeting: Honoring Our Veterans (November 11th)

Our next Pack meeting on Monday, November 11th, falls on Veterans Day.  We want to honor and recognize the men and women who have served our country.

We are looking for one or two service members (active duty or veterans, young or old) to come and share a brief account of their military experience with the Pack. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Scouts to learn about service and sacrifice.

Can you help us?

If you are a service member or know a veteran who would be excited to share their story with our excited Pack, please contact Matthew Haneman immediately. We would be thrilled to host them!

We Love Den Leaders

Posted on Oct 5 2025 - 6:08pm

New this year, Pack 201 is giving Den Leaders a box of supplies for Den meetings.  A Starter Kit that will stay with the Den through the years.   It will include an American flag so Dens can have a flag ceremony for opening and closing, just like we do at Pack meetings.  Den Leaders will be able to customize to their needs and bring it to den meetings.  We Love our Leaders!

NASA Space Adventure, April 12-13, 2025

Posted on Apr 13 2025 - 9:52pm

BLAST OFF!!!  17 Scouts and 14 Parents experienced this “Out of this World” Overnight Adventure at NASA.  Our Scouts got a Planetary Show, designed rockets and got to compete to see whose rocket reached the highest altitude.  In their Sphero Engineering Challenge, they engineered a Payload Transportation System using recycled materials and a Sphero Bolt Robot to collect samples and transport them across a course.  They got to Bldg 9 to see the Astronaut Training Facility and the Robotics Lab.  At the Rocket Park they saw a real full sized Saturn V Rocket!  How much fun they had! But even Astronauts and Parents get tired after an exciting weekend!  Thank You NASA!
